So Silver Lakers and Echo Parkers, you are no longer “Eastsiders.” And you never were in the first place. You belong to the heart of the city. Get used to it, damnit.
The Militant Angeleno suggests
the most sensible map I’ve yet seen. He has the westside as La Cienega to the sea, and the east as the Los Angeles river to the easternmost city limits. Where does that leave infy you ask? Well, along with
Koreatown,
Thai Town,
HiFi,
Hollywood, and believe it or not
WeHo, I’m in the city center. Rather than the cultural line that La Brea or Fairfax may represent, the Militant uses a mix of historical context and area codes to cut up the city.
It’s tough to get used to Downtown and West Hollywood sharing a central district unless you remember that Los Angeles is the top city in combined
density and
land area. I do reserve the right to refer to my home as “the eastside” in defense against occidental douchebags.
