infy MOVIES TO FALL IN LOVE TO: Medicine for Melancholy
I’ve probably watched this trailer 100 times. My new favorite person Wyatt Cenac stars as a black indie bike kid navigating a rapidly gentrifying San Francisco, and a moment with someone new. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as directly spoken to by a trailer in my life.
one of many gems that sing to me (catch it at 0:58)
Angela: That’s cute, who’s bike is that?
Micah: It’s my ex’s.
Angela: Oh…
Micah: I took it back.
So much that’s both tragic and wonderful about being young resonates in their exchange. The hope, fear, and naive joy of being in your twenties can be overwhelming. This short two minute piece leaves me with so much optimism I feel my heart may burst.
